Sling Series – Take Your Fitness to the Air!

Beginning January 12, 2019, Atherial will host the first of two new Sling workshop series. Sling is an apparatus used in aerial dance and aerial performances. This apparatus is attached to a swivel which allows for greater freedom of movement including the ability to spin. Sling performers often appear to be dancing in the air!

The first of the Sling series is for beginners. If you’ve ever wanted to try out Sling or build the strength and confidence to take your yoga practice to the air, then this series is for you. If you already have aerial experience and want to learn new tricks, entries, and sequences, consider our Intermediate Sling series. Both series will help you gain strength and confidence in a fun way!

Learning Sling – A 6 Week Series for Beginners

The Beginner Sling series includes six classes and is designed for the beginner aerialist. If you’ve ever wanted to try our signature DanceFly class but weren’t sure you would be good at it, this series will help you build the strength and confidence needed to take flight. You’ll learn entries into the Sling, different grips, and fun postures designed to take your practice off the ground and into the air. You’ll also learn different conditioning drills which will help you build strength so you can fly with greater ease and more confidence.

The Beginners Series will be led by Alethea Dawson. Alethea has been trained on Sling through Born To Fly. She also has completed three aerial training programs and Kindness Yoga’s 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training Program.

Emilianna will assist throughout the series. Emilianna is a certified personal trainer and group fitness instructor who completed the National Academy of Sports Medicine’s (NASM) training program. She also completed Atherial’s Aerial Yoga Teacher Training program. Together, Alethea and Emilianna will guide you into Sling postures safely.

The Beginner Sling Series takes place on Saturdays from January 12, 2019 – February 16, 2019. The cost of the series is $169. Those who complete the Beginner Sling series are welcome to advance to our Intermediate Sling series which is also 6 weeks long. The cost of both series is $320. Teenagers are welcome with the permission of a parent or guardian.

Intermediate Sling Series – Advance Your Practice

After the Beginner Sling series ends, we will start our Intermediate Sling series. In this series, you’ll build upon the foundational postures and learn more advanced material. You’ll learn more intricate and advanced postures as well as how to flow these postures together through short sequences.

The Intermediate Series will be led by Casey Pottle. Casey is certified in Sling through Born to Fly and Antigravity. She also has over a decade of dance experience including ballet and contemporary dance. Casey is the program lead for Atherial’s signature DanceFly program. Emilianna, our certified personal trainer, will also be on hand to assist throughout this series.

The Intermediate Series takes place on Saturdays from February 23, 2019 through March 16, 2019. The cost of this series is $169. For those who want to learn the basics first, take our Beginner Series as well – both series cost $320 when purchased together.
